Getting Started
What is a QR code?
A QR code, short for Quick Response code, is a square barcode that stores information such as a website link. When someone points their phone camera at it, the device reads the code and opens the linked page, so people can reach a destination without typing a long address.
How do I create a QR code here?
Go to the generator on the home page, paste or type your link into the input box, and press Generate. Your QR code appears instantly in the live preview, and you can download it as a PNG with one click. There are no accounts or extra steps.
Do I need to include https in my link?
No. If you leave off the prefix, we automatically add a secure https prefix for you. You can paste something as simple as example.com and it will work.
Pricing and Accounts
Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes. QRVelto is completely free to use. There is no signup, no watermark on your codes, and no limit on how many QR codes you can create.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is required. You can create and download as many QR codes as you like without registering or providing any personal details.
Can I use the QR codes for my business?
Absolutely. You are free to use the QR codes you generate for commercial projects, including business cards, posters, packaging, product labels, and marketing campaigns.
Downloads and Quality
What file format do I get?
QR codes download as a high-resolution 1024 by 1024 pixel PNG image with a clean white background. This size is suitable for both on-screen use and high-quality printing.
Will the QR code look sharp when printed?
Yes. Because the download is high resolution, it stays crisp when printed at typical sizes. For very large prints such as banners, place the image at the size you need and confirm it still looks sharp before printing.
Can I change the color or size?
The generator currently produces a standard high-contrast black-on-white code, which offers the most reliable scanning across devices and lighting conditions.
Security and Privacy
Is my data safe?
Yes. QR codes are generated locally in your browser using JavaScript. The links you enter are never uploaded to or stored on our servers, so your information stays on your own device.
Do the QR codes track who scans them?
No. The codes created here are static and contain only the link you provide. They do not track scans or collect data about the people who scan them.
Do the QR codes expire?
No. Static QR codes never expire. They will continue to work for as long as the destination page you linked to remains online.
Troubleshooting
My QR code will not scan. What should I do?
First, make sure there is good lighting and that the whole code is visible and in focus. Keep a small quiet margin of white space around the code, and avoid resizing it so small that the details blur. If you printed it, check that it is not stretched or distorted, and try scanning again from a slightly greater distance.
The link opens the wrong page.
Double-check the URL you entered in the generator, then create a fresh code. A single typo in the address will send scanners to the wrong destination, so it helps to test the code with your own phone before sharing it.
Nothing happens when I press Generate.
Make sure you have entered a valid link that includes a domain, such as example.com. If the input is empty or clearly not a web address, the generator will show a short message instead of a code.
Using QR Codes
How can wedding guests share their photos with the couple using a QR code?
Create a QR code that links to a shared photo album or upload folder, then print it on table cards or a welcome sign at the venue. Guests point their phone camera at the code, follow the link, and can view or add photos right from the browser — no special app or tech skills needed. QRVelto’s wedding guide walks through the whole setup, from making the code to printing the signs.
How do I get more Google reviews with a QR code?
Turn your business’s Google review link into a QR code and place the printed code where happy customers will see it — at the till, on receipts, on packaging, or on a table tent. One scan takes the customer straight to the review form, removing the need to search for the business and hunt for the review button, which is where most people give up.
How does a Wi-Fi QR code work?
A Wi-Fi QR code stores your network name, password, and security type inside the code itself. When a guest scans it with their phone camera, the phone offers to join that network automatically — nobody has to read out, spell, or type a long password. You can make one on QRVelto by entering your network details and downloading the finished code.
Should I use a QR code for my restaurant menu, and what about business cards?
They are two different codes doing two different jobs. A menu QR code links to your menu page or PDF, so you can change dishes and prices online without reprinting anything. A business-card (vCard) QR code stores your contact details, so scanning it saves your name, phone, and email directly into the other person’s phone contacts. QRVelto has a separate generator for each.
